COINCIDENCE: Candace Owens Fired From Daily Wire After Interviewing Rabbi Barclay
It isn't a coincidence
Candace Owens has finally been fired from the Daily Wire, after months of tension with her weird supervisor Ben Shapiro.
In case you missed it, Candace went aggressively off-script last fall when she started asking questions about the disproportionate Israeli response to the October 7 attacks by Hamas.
All she really did was point out on her show that civilian deaths in Israel are not the only tragic deaths in the war. She suggested that it was also sad that so many civilians in Gaza were being killed. This is obviously true to anyone but an absolute shill for Israel having some kind of mandate from heaven to commit genocide.
Cue Ben Shapiro. Shortly after the war began, a leaked video surfaced on X where Benny was trashing his employee Candace at some party. (Note: Candace has tweeted several times that “Ben is not my boss” and that she has a good relationship with Jeremy Boreing, who is some kind of editor or something at the Daily Wire. All technicalities, but Candace was obviously wrong about the unlikelihood of her being fired. The actual announcement of her firing came from Boreing yesterday on X.)
In the leaked video from last fall, Ben called Candace unsophisticated or something, I don’t recall (and I can’t bear to hear Shapiro’s voice if avoidable).
When the video of him throwing her under the bus went viral, she responded brilliantly and hilariously.
You can see the clip of Ben and my article about it all here:
Candace Owens Endorses Nikki Haley for President...of Israel!
I’m no fan of the Daily Wire, but I’m a longtime Candace Owens supporter. This woman is hilarious. Lately she’s getting into some hot water with her boss Ben Shapiro (the editor of the Daily Wire where she is a political commentator).
All of her shows (as far as I can tell) are still up on her YouTube channel as of March 23, and you can easily see what she’s been saying about the war, about Israel, and about the very aggressive attacks upon her by Rabbi Schmuley, which I wrote about last week. (Link below.)
Candace makes a lot of content and I obviously haven’t seen everything. For that reason, I cannot vouch for absolutely everything she has said.
That being said, though, what I have seen from her about all of the ongoing issues with the Israel-Gaza war have been very good, and quite reasonable. She hasn’t said anything that warrants being fired, especially considering her measured suggestions that censorship is increasing against people who dare to question or criticize how Israel is conducting the war in Gaza.
Candace has been especially good with:
her measured questions about the genocide against Gaza being sponsored by the American government
her legitimate questions about the aggressive shilling for unlimited military support for Israel by Republican candidates in the GOP debates
her excellent responses to the bizarre and unholy Rabbi Schmuley in the wake of unprovoked attacks he made upon her, and
her brilliant interview last week of Rabbi Barclay.
Here is the interview Candace did with Rabbi Barclay, which was evidently the final straw which moved Shapiro to fire her.
Good thumbnail!
He did accuse her of being a Hitler admirer, which is outrageous, and she easily disproved his unhinged claim. You’ll be shocked to hear that he never apologizes for the slander, in spite of admitting that he has not even closely watched the interview in which he alleges she expressed the alleged Hitler compliment.
Candace does an excellent job in the interview of Barclay, so you need to watch it, even though the man she is talking with is despicably rude to her throughout.
Barclay’s basic approach here is to shame Candace repeatedly for refusing to unconditionally apologize to him for having offended him. Many times he says, “I haven’t heard an apology,” and “I’m very disappointed that you have not apologized yet, or taken responsibility for what you said, or for making me feel this way,” and even “I have never heard you say, ‘I realize I messed up rabbi, I realize what you’re saying.’”
I had no idea any adult would ever speak in such a sickeningly condescending and arrogant way to another adult at all, let alone to such a friendly and kind hostess like Candace Owens, in public on a high-profile podcast.
This man is really embarrassing, and he should be embarrassed.
Thank God that she did not apologize.
You never apologize in a struggle session because the person guilting you is not sincerely seeking reconciliation, only a psychological victory.
Meanwhile, he is the person who should be apologizing to Candace for having publicly slandered her in every possible way, misconstruing many things which she easily refuted during the interview.
All of the things he whines about to Candace are either demonstrably false misstatements of her words, which she disproves in their interview, or they are things she did say, which also happen to be true.
Barclay does not bother to refute Candace’s accurate statements from the Schmuley exchanges, because all of them are true. He just obfuscates and calls her antisemitic.
In fact, his arrogant attitude to her makes it a hard watch. But it is worth it because of the remarkable restraint, patience and Christian charitableness that Candace shows toward someone who wrote a slimy hit piece against her, only to pretend, when confronted, that he did nothing wrong.
In the hit piece, which Candace quotes extensively during the interview, Barclay says many bizarre and demonstrably unfounded things about Candace, which she painstakingly refutes as the video proceeds.
Perhaps most damning to Barclay, Candace gets him to admit that he has not actually watched the main source he was critiquing. The basis for most of what Barclay recently wrote in his hit piece was an interview that Candace gave last year to Tucker Carlson. I also have not watched it, but what I gathered from the Barclay interview is that she discussed the Gaza war with Tucker.
He repeatedly mentioned not having time to watch her show and being unfamiliar with her content.
You would think that would give him pause if he was going to write an article accusing someone as famous as Candace of rank antisemitism. He’s concerned not only about Candace criticizing Israel’s response to October 7, but more recently about her very public spat with Rabbi Schmuley.
Candace Owens Rampage Proves She Should Become Our President
We all love Candace Owens. This woman is really remarkable. I can’t think of anyone else in the political sphere I admire more right now. She has 500x more courage and intelligence than Ben Shapiro—but then again, so does m…
Despite schooling Barclay several times with impeccable facts and logic, he dodges her questions with an annoying and condescending debate style, refusing to address straightforward requests for definitions and beliefs, while pillorying her with a mixture of lies, misrepresentations and emotional appeals.
The interview is both hilarious and disturbing, but again, I recommend watching it in its entirety. You have to see it to understand the context of why she was fired shortly after it was published.
Near the end of the interview, the Rabbi tells Candace that he is thankful for her time and that he is on his way to meet up with someone “a mutual friend of ours.” This occurs at the one-hour and 39 minute mark, which I have screen capped so you can go and listen to at least this part, which is the most disturbing in the whole video.
My conjecture is that the mutual friend he was referring to is Ben Shapiro, and that he was threatening Candace by implying that he was going to let Ben know that she had failed the test, refused to roll over and apologize to Barclay, and that it was time to cut ties with her.
It’s so funny.
“Oh Candace. How can you say we use gang tactics to control people we dislike? It’s an ancient trope, just a canard…By the way, I’m on my way to meet up with a mutual friend of ours. This is a very nice podcast you have here Candace. I sure hope I can appear with you again on it one day soon.”
Do you understand? Do I have to draw you a picture?
Candace also put out this show on Tuesday, just a few days before she was fired, asking the question, “Why do so many people keep saying I am going to be killed?”
